Viva la Vida - A Tribute to Frida Kahlo

Congress Innsbruck, Rennweg 3, 6020 Innsbruck

Enrique Gasa Valga Dance Company

A reunion Innsbruck has been waiting a long time for: Frida Kahlo – the production that received standing ovations and 17 sold-out performances when it premiered at the Tyrolean State Theatre, and was awarded the Golden Schikaneder as Austria’s Best Ballet Production – returns to Innsbruck after almost eight years and performances across Europe.

Through powerful imagery, Enrique Gasa Valga tells the story of a woman who never allowed herself to be bent: passion and pain, love and betrayal, art and an insatiable hunger for life – carried by captivating Latin American live music and a choreography that moves between classical ballet and contemporary dance theatre.

For the first time in Innsbruck, Viva la Vida – A Tribute to Frida Kahlo will be accompanied by live music. The acclaimed Bolzano-based singer Greta Marcolongo and musical director Roberto Tubaro, who is responsible for the original compositions and masterful new arrangements of the music, will perform together with their band, providing the production with its live musical accompaniment.
